Welcome to the Activation and Node Setup FAQ! Whether you're just getting started or looking to optimize your experience, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know to run your node software successfully. Below, you’ll find setup instructions for both local installations and virtual environments, along with system requirement information.
What does it look like when I need to activate a Node?
If you’ve purchased nodes but haven’t yet activated them, navigate to My Nodes. You’ll see a message like this:
Activate Nodes
You currently have 2 Rally Nodes Offline.
How can I run my node software?
There are two methods for running your node software:
-
Locally on your computer (Mac or Linux only)
-
Remotely via a Virtual Private Server (VPS)
Both options have their advantages. Local setups are great if you want direct access and control, but can only host one SmartNode per device. VPS hosts offer 24/7 uptime and performance stability.
To begin the setup process, click the blue Set Up Nodes button from My Nodes. This will bring you to Activate Nodes. Form here, you will have several options to get your nodes up and running:
• Block Fabric - this service offers the easiest setup and is our recommended option.
• VPS hosting service of your choice, such as Vultr, Open Ocean or one of many other platforms.
• Host your node yourself on a local device such as a desktop or laptop.
How do I set up a node through Block Fabric?
When activating a Node, this will be your default provider. (Recommended)
Block Fabric offers a user-friendly platform for setting up your node in a virtual environment. This option is ideal if you prefer not to run the software on your personal device and want a more hands-off solution.

Note: If you set up your account and received a BlockBot Mini, a BlockFabric account has automatically been created for you. In this case, your Block Fabric username and password will be the same as your Connect wallet username and password.
How do I set up a node through another VPS (Virtual Private Server)?
Running your node through a VPS ensures it stays online 24/7 and uses remote computing power. There are many VPS options available.

Can my computer support Blockchain Node Software?
You can run one SmartNode per local device. Before installing your node locally, make sure your system meets the following minimum requirements to ensure stable performance and proper functionality:
-
Operating System: macOS or Linux (Windows is not currently supported)
-
Processor: Minimum of 4 CPU cores
-
RAM: At least 8GB (16GB recommended for optimal performance)
-
Storage: SSD with a minimum of 100GB free space
-
Internet Connection: Stable broadband with upload/download speeds of at least 10 Mbps
If your system meets these requirements, you're ready to move forward with local installation!
