Blockchain is a type of technology that stores information in a secure, transparent, and tamper-resistant way. It works as a public (or sometimes private) digital ledger made up of blocks—ordered records that are linked together using cryptography.
Each block contains a timestamp, a batch of transactions, and a unique cryptographic hash that connects it to the previous block. Because the ledger is shared across many computers in the network (decentralized), no single person or organization controls it. Altering past data would require changing every subsequent block and gaining consensus from the network, making the system extremely difficult to tamper with.
Blockchain can be used for far more than cryptocurrency. Its transparency, security, and decentralized nature make it a promising technology for industries such as finance, supply chain, real estate, healthcare, energy, and more.
