Codex / Block Fabric supports multiple node types so users can participate in blockchain networks in different ways depending on their goals and technical needs. Below is a simple overview of the node types currently supported.
-
Validator Nodes
Validator nodes help secure a blockchain network. They verify transactions, participate in consensus, and help add new blocks. These nodes are important for network security and reliability. -
Full Nodes
Full nodes store a complete copy of the blockchain and independently verify transactions and blocks. They help strengthen decentralization and improve network trust. Full nodes do not always participate directly in consensus but are important for network health. -
Light Nodes (SPV Clients)
Light nodes do not download the full blockchain. Instead, they use block headers and proofs to verify transactions. They require less storage and bandwidth, making them suitable for lower-resource environments. Light nodes rely on full nodes for full data access. -
Archive Nodes
Archive nodes store the entire historical state of a blockchain. This allows users to query past data and run advanced analytics. These nodes require significantly more storage and are typically used for research, explorers, or specialized applications.
Ecosystem Support
