Onboarding for Connect United community members.
Welcome to Connect! We're excited for you to be part of this amazing community, where our goal is to make it easy for anyone to learn about and participate in blockchain technology. Getting started in Connect can be a bit of a process with a lot of information, but we aim to make it as easy as possible with some helpful guidelines so stick with us through this article!
Before you begin - the Connect ecosystem has the potential for the creation of multiple brand accounts and wallets, including many possible passwords. We recommend designating a notebook or file where you can safely store all of the passwords, recovery phrases, etc. We also recommend you don't store any of this important information on your phone or linked device. Hard copies are always a good idea.
There are 5 important tasks to complete in order to participate and start earning rewards:
•Create your Connect Account
•Setup your Connect Wallet
•Purchase nodes
•Setup your brand wallet(s)
•Get your nodes online
Create a free account
Connect is an invitation-only community, so you'll need a share link from the friend that introduced you to to get going. If you already have a Connect account and would like to share with your friends, click here to learn how to find your unique share link.
When you receive your invitation link, just follow the steps displayed during the account creation process. First, fill out your account information, making sure to double check the spelling of your email especially. The email address associated with your account is used for multiple functions including node logins and support tickets.
2. Log into your email account and verify the email you used in your account setup.
The verification email will be from support@connectunited.com and will look similar to this:
If you are not redirected to your Connect account after clicking the link in your email, go ahead and navigate back to to web.connectunited.com to continue your account creation.
Next you'll be asked to read, accept and sign the Connect United Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. Take time to read through the documents. These documents are stored in your Account Settings and can be viewed anytime by navigating there and selecting the policy you would like to review.
Set up your Connect Wallet
The next essential task is to set up your Connect Wallet. You'll be prompted to do this as the final step of your account creation. Don't skip it! First you'll be asked to create an Encryption Passcode. This may also be referred to as a Wallet Passcode. This is the password that will be used anytime you transact with any rewards in your Connect wallet. It is important to create a password unique from your login password. After setting you Encryption Passcode, you'll be given your 12-word Recovery Phrase, which is sometimes also called the Backup Phrase. This is the ONLY time your Recovery Phrase will be displayed. It is your one and only wallet backup. Connect does not store Recovery Phrases and cannot recover or recreate them. Don't share it and make sure to store it in a safe place!
In order to ensure you've correctly recorded your Recovery Phrase, you'll be asked to type it in one time. Always enter words in the order they were displayed, lowercase, with no spaces.
Your wallet setup is complete! You can view your Connect wallet by clicking My Connect and My Wallet. Learn even more about your Connect wallet here.
Purchase Nodes
Navigate to the "Buy Nodes" tab and select the nodes and quantities you are interested in purchasing. The Connect shopping cart currently operates using either USDC or USDT. Please note that you will still need to have a small amount of ETH in your wallet in order to pay the Gas Fee. Helpful hint: adding nodes to your cart even before payment will show you an estimate of your total, including your estimated Gas Fee.
Select "Checkout" in order to continue with your purchase.
Your pricing will be locked in place for one hour. You'll be required to accept and sign a Node Agreement for each node brand you are purchasing from. Take your time to read through the print for each node. If you are purchasing nodes from multiple brands you will be required to go through these actions multiple times. You can find a copy of the node agreements signed in your Account Settings under Order History and Order Details.
Now you will be taken to the checkout page. Here you will see the summary of your order and estimated total. You can choose to either pay through an external wallet or your Connect wallet. To pay through an external wallet, simply copy and paste your wallet address in the provided field or scan the QR code with your smartphone before verifiying the payment.
And remember, while nodes must be purchased with USDC/USDT, a small amount of ETH will still be required in order to pay the gas fee, as the transaction is taking place on the Ethereum network.
After your funds have been added, press the "Submit Order" button near the bottom of the screen to complete your purchase.
NOTE* You can purchase ETH for your Connect wallet directly from this page with SwitchPay by selecting the "Purchase USDT or ETH" option.
Next you'll be prompted to create and link an account with the brand(s) for the nodes you are purchasing. This is a MUST for your node software license to be correctly assigned, and for any blockchain rewards earned to be distributed. Creating your brand account during the purchase process from inside your Connect shopping cart will automatically link the account to Connect. If you have additional accounts that you need to link, you can find easy linking instructions here.
Now your accounts are linked, you can complete your purchase. It usually takes less than 10 mins for the transaction to complete. Keep your payment window open and wait for the order completion message.
Congratulations! You're a node owner! Learn how to find a copy of your purchase receipt, including transaction id, wallet address and more here.
View your node license by clicking on My Connect and My Nodes. Notice the node is assigned to you, but you can see it's not yet online. On to the next crucial step!
Setting Up Your Brand Wallet
It is extremely important to understand that while brand-specific rewards may be reflected in your Connect BlockBot Report for your convenience, brand-specific rewards are not distributed to your Connect wallet. Instead, they are exclusively distributed to their respective brand wallets. To collect your daily distribution rewards for these brands, it is necessary to create a brand wallet at each of their individual websites. Learn more about the importance of brand wallets here.
Take a minute right now to open a new tab, log into the brand account you just created during your purchase, (the example used here is Nerd) and complete the wallet setup.
Note: you'll need to access the email account associated with the brand account you created and verify your email if you've never logged into the brand account before.
Upon logging into your brand account you may be prompted to setup 2 Factor Authentication, you can do that now, or come back to it later. You'll also be prompted to read, accept, and sign the brand Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. And now you can complete your wallet setup!
Click the Setup Wallet button and work through the same process as you did when creating your Connect wallet. You'll set an Encryption Passcode (Wallet Password) and receive your 12-word Recovery Phrase. Again, please make sure to store your passcode and recovery phrase somewhere safe! These are essential when interacting with rewards in the future.
When your wallet setup is complete, you can log out of your brand account and return web.connectunited.com. Navigate to from your Dashboard to My Nodes.
Get your Nodes Online!
You've made it to the last onboarding task!
From My Nodes, tap the message at the top that says Set Up Nodes. You can also click on Node Setup located at the top of your screen.
From Node Setup you may choose to run your node license on software downloaded to a local device, through a service such as Vultr, or on the Node Engine platform. Instructions for each option can be found on this page, as well as here.
In this example, we'll use Node Engine. Click on Learn More About NodeEngine. You'll be redirected to the Node Engine site to create an account. After creating an account and logging in, Select the "Start Hosting" button. Each instance can run multiple lite and smart nodes from a single brand, but different brands will need a unique instance. For example, you can run 3 Win Smart Nodes and 1 Win lite node on the same instance, but a Galvan lite node would needs its own instance.
After choosing your desired brand and number of nodes, select "Proceed To Checkout".
Enter your payment information, and note the billing due dates. Select Confirm Payment in order to complete the transaction.
Enter the email and password associated with the brand for which you are creating an instance. For example, if this was an instance for a Switch node, you'd enter your Switch account email and login password.
Hit Deploy. Your Node Engine dashboard will reflect Engine On for the instance you have created.
Go back to web.connectunited.com and select My Nodes from your dashboard. You should see that your node is online!
You've made it through all four tasks - you're practically an expert now! You're ready to start sharing Connect and earning even more rewards.
