Why is completing the Connect wallet setup so important?
*Note - This process is only intended for users who have already created Connect accounts. For new users, you can create your Connect and brand wallets easily during account creation with Auto Link!
When you sign up for an account at web.connectunited.com, you will be prompted to create a Connect wallet. This wallet serves multiple purposes: it receives the distribution of your WIN rewards when you run your node and support the network, it holds requested Connect Pay rewards, and it can be used as a payment option when making purchases through Connect. Your Connect wallet holds your Win rewards. If you own a Win Smart Node or a Win (Lite) Node you need access to your Connect wallet. Without a Connect wallet, your potential WIN rewards will be redistributed to those who not only have their nodes on and running but who have also set up their Connect wallets.
Connect Pay Rewards are also sent to your Connect wallet. When you have rewards available for withdrawal in your Connect Pay Report, requesting those rewards will send them to your Connect wallet, where you can hold them, or send to any other ERC-20 wallet you wish. Do I need a separate WIN wallet in addition to my Connect wallet?
No. Your Connect wallet IS your WIN wallet. This is why it is critical to complete your Connect wallet setup.
Is a Connect wallet only for holding WIN rewards?
Your Connect wallet also has the ability to receive, store and send ETH, USTD, USDC, and partner-brand rewards.
Wallet Setup
The last important step to setting up your Connect account: complete your wallet setup.
First, you'll be asked to create a Wallet Passcode, also sometimes referred to as your Encryption Passcode. This is the password that will be used anytime you transact with any rewards or other currencies in your Connect wallet.
It is very important to create a password that is unique from your login password. Learn more about the importance of your Wallet Passcode here.
After setting your Wallet Passcode, you'll receive your 12-word wallet Recovery Phrase, or Backup Phrase.
This is the ONLY time your Recovery Phrase will be displayed. It is your one and only wallet backup. Connect does not store Recovery Phrases and cannot recover or recreate them.
Don't take a screenshot of your Recovery Phrase, or store it on your device. It's always best to write it down and keep a hard copy somewhere safe. Don't share your Recovery Phrase.
In order to ensure you've correctly recorded your Recovery Phrase, you'll be asked to type it in one time. Always enter words in the order they were displayed, lowercase, with no spaces.
Helpful hint: if a word is incorrect, or mispelled, you will not be able to click on the Submit button.
When all 12 words are entered correctly, tap Submit.
Congratulations! Your Connect account and wallet setup is complete.
